From New York Times bestseller Geneva Lee comes the next deliciously dirty book in her all-new Dynasties series. Full of shocking twists, sizzling chemistry, forbidden pleasure, and an ending you'll never see coming... What would you do for ten million dollars? I made a deal. One year of my life pretending to be a rich aristocrat in exchange for ten million pounds. Enough money to start over somewhere new. Enough money to disappear forever. It sounded simple, but being Kerrigan Belmond is more dangerous than I expected. Her world isn’t as perfect behind closed doors as it is on paper. I didn’t just sell one year of my life, I sold my virginity and soul to the enigmatic and manipulative Spencer Byrd. Being with him is only a temporary arrangement. My body shouldn’t tighten under his penetrating gaze. His touch shouldn’t electrify me. I should say no to his dirty demands, especially when they involve his cruel brother, Holden. I should keep my distance from both. Instead, I keep playing their twisted game, knowing pleasure is the prize. Plus, I need Holden to spill the secret he’s keeping, especially since he might know the truth behind Kerrigan’s absence. But if he does, that means he knows the truth about me, too. There’s a bigger problem, though. The longer I pretend to be Kerrigan, the harder it is to remember the fortune, the fame, and the brothers aren’t mine—and that if I make one wrong move, I lose everything.

Kerrigan Belmond has everything I don’t have. A name that opens doors, more money than god, an Oxford education, and rumors that she’s caught the eye of Spencer Byrd, the heir to one of England’s most powerful aristocratic families. I’m an orphan, running from a tragedy I can’t face. Being mistaken for her is flattering until her father arrives at my door with an indecent proposal. His daughter has fled her perfect life, and he wants me to step into her shoes until she can be coaxed back to her pedestal. The arrangement is simple. For one year, I will be Kerrigan Belmond. The perfect daughter. The charming socialite. The ideal future wife. For one year, I will do anything she would do. And for one year, I will keep the attention of Spencer at all costs. I can’t say no, but as soon as I meet Spencer and his brother I realize the mistake I’ve made. To the outside world, the Byrds are London society and Spencer is the golden boy groomed to become prime minister. Behind closed doors, his family is as twisted and tangled as the web I’m walking into. Spencer demands loyalty. He expects discretion. And he’s ready to claim the woman he’s been promised in every way. Keeping him happy means I might lose more than a year of my life, but I can’t turn down the proposition. Not with what the Belmonds have promised me in return. They say everyone has a price. I know mine. Ten million pounds.

The Political History in Qin and Han Dynasty Book Review:

The book is the volume of “The Political History in Qin and Han Dynasty” among a series of books of “Deep into China Histories”. The earliest known written records of the history of China date from as early as 1250 BC, from the Shang dynasty (c. 1600–1046 BC) and the Bamboo Annals (296 BC) describe a Xia dynasty (c. 2070–1600 BC) before the Shang, but no writing is known from the period The Shang ruled in the Yellow River valley, which is commonly held to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. However, Neolithic civilizations originated at various cultural centers along both the Yellow River and Yangtze River. These Yellow River and Yangtze civilizations arose millennia before the Shang. With thousands of years of continuous history, China is one of the world's oldest civilizations, and is regarded as one of the cradles of civilization. The Zhou dynasty (1046–256 BC) supplanted the Shang and introduced the concept of the Mandate of Heaven to justify their rule. The central Zhou government began to weaken due to external and internal pressures in the 8th century BC, and the country eventually splintered into smaller states during the Spring and Autumn period. These states became independent and warred with one another in the following Warring States period. Much of traditional Chinese culture, literature and philosophy first developed during those troubled times. In 221 BC Qin Shi Huang conquered the various warring states and created for himself the title of Huangdi or 'emperor' of the Qin, marking the beginning of imperial China. However, the oppressive government fell soon after his death, and was supplanted by the longer-lived Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). Successive dynasties developed bureaucratic systems that enabled the emperor to control vast territories directly. In the 21 centuries from 206 BC until AD 1912, routine administrative tasks were handled by a special elite of scholar-officials. Young men, well-versed in calligraphy, history, literature, and philosophy, were carefully selected through difficult government examinations. China's last dynasty was the Qing (1644–1912), which was replaced by the Republic of China in 1912, and in the mainland by the People's Republic of China in 1949.Chinese history has alternated between periods of political unity and peace, and periods of war and failed statehood – the most recent being the Chinese Civil War (1927–1949). China was occasionally dominated by steppe peoples, most of whom were eventually assimilated into the Han Chinese culture and population. Between eras of multiple kingdoms and warlordism, Chinese dynasties have ruled parts or all of China; in some eras control stretched as far as Xinjiang and Tibet, as at present. Traditional culture, and influences from other parts of Asia and the Western world (carried by waves of immigration, cultural assimilation, expansion, and foreign contact), form the basis of the modern culture of China.

The stories of the Chinese great emperors reflect the ancient Chinese philosophy, ideology, their wisdom and their ways of administration. Liu Bang is an outstanding example. Rising from a peasant background to become Emperor, he founded the Han Dynasty which lasted for about four hundred years and essentially laid the foundations of China as we know it. Liu Bang (256 BC?195 BC), posthumously called Emperor Gaozu, was a low-ranking functionary in an obscure corner of the realm when he caught the wave of the great uprisings against the Qin Dynasty. First as leader of a local contingent and then as general of larger and larger armies, he eventually overthrew the despotic Qin emperor. Today, the Han are the majority ethnic identity in China. This is the story of the rise of Emperor Gaozu, his alliances and his rivalries, and the priceless partnership provided by his chief military strategist Zhang Liang, who planned victorious campaigns from a distance of 1000 miles; Xiao He, who stabilized the state, pacified the people, and assured the food supply to the army; and General Han Xin, who commanded the Han army in its conquest of the State of Wei, the State of Zhao, the State of Yan and the State of Qi and played a great role in the defeat of Xiang Yu. In an era we may think was run by sheer force and autocratic rule, the greatest achievements are credited to the person who accepts advice, who rewards wise subordinates, and who shares the spoils rather than playing winner-takes-all.

Murder. Love. Duty. During the Qing Dynasty, betrayals, secrets, and lies often lead to murder. And only one man can solve the empire's most desperate cases - if he can convince the one woman he can't resist to help him. Books 1-3 of the Qing Dynasty Mysteries featuring Inspector Gong and Lady Li are now available in this exciting boxed set! Murder in the Forbidden City - Book 1 When one of the Empress’s ladies-in-waiting is killed in the Forbidden City, she orders Inspector Gong to find the killer. Unfortunately, as a man, he is forbidden from entering the Inner Court. How is he supposed to solve a murder when he cannot visit the scene of the crime or talk to the women in the victim’s life? He won’t be able to solve this crime alone. The widowed Lady Li is devastated when she finds out about the murder of her sister-in-law, who was serving as the Empress’s lady-in-waiting. She is determined to discover who killed her, even if it means assisting the rude and obnoxious Inspector Gong and going undercover in the Forbidden City. Together, will Lady Li and Inspector Gong be able to find the murderer before he – or she – strikes again? Murder in the British Quarter - Book 2 When a young Chinese woman is murdered within the British Quarter of the foreign legation, Inspector Gong is ordered by the Imperial Court to solve the crime before the incident escalates into war between China and the foreign powers. The only problem? Inspector Gong doesn’t speak English. And he is hardly the type of man to be accepted by the British elite living in Peking. Once again, he must turn to the one woman who can help him. The woman he can’t stop thinking about. Lady Li is trying to forget about Inspector Gong. He’s a danger to herself, her position, and her children’s future. But when he comes once again knocking on her door and asking for her assistance in solving a case, she can’t resist, despite her better judgment. Lady Li’s language and diplomatic abilities allow her to freely enter the world of the Western visitors, but tensions between the foreigners and local people are increasing by the hour. Will Lady Li and Inspector Gong be able to solve the crime without the answer leading China to war? Murder at the Peking Opera - Book 3 After helping Prince Kung avert an international disaster and negotiating with Inspector Gong's mother for his betrothal to Concubine Swan, Lady Li takes a well-deserved evening to enjoy the first public performance by a female Peking opera performer. But her relaxing night out takes a dramatic turn when a murder is committed on stage during the performance. Inspector Gong's attempt at finding a distraction from the troubles in his heart is thwarted when he and Lady Li attend the same opera performance. Thankfully, a murder in front of hundreds of people plunges him into a world usually hidden behind curtains and costumes. The empress has decreed that women can now play female roles in Peking's beloved operas. But few women have been willing to undertake the challenge and risk the wrath of the more conservative opera patrons. When the first woman willing to step into the role of the 'dan' becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her co-star, Lady Li begs Inspector Gong to delay in arresting the actress and find the real killer before the woman is executed for the crime. With the future of Chinese theater hanging in the balance, Inspector Gong must try to find the truth among people who mask their real faces for a living.

This book is a culmination of that research. After trashing his work 10 times and starting over, he managed to get a revised chronology that seemed to be more accurate than that being put out by the status quo universities. It combines secular / world history with Biblical history in a far more even and smoother match than that proposed by former historians who have attempted the same. This is his version 12, which doesn’t try to match different histories based on dates, but rather by matching people and events and then applying revised dates to those events and people. This work will call into question the conclusions of historians of the last 200 years, about the ancient periods of time, and provide an alternative dating for those times. It is a World History in that it incorporates the ancient history of India, China, Japan, as well as the traditional Middle Eastern and European societies of ancient times. It re-evaluates the beginnings of civilization and the solar system, refuting common historical and scientific beliefs of the modern world. Documents that have previously been written off as Mythology have been re-evaluated as well, as they give a different perspective of ancient times and what happened back then. The use and creation of calendars is an important feature added to this work which is seldom taken into account by modern histories. Incorporated in this work are many of the more recent archaeological finds that have yet to be incorporated in status quo works and institutions. He makes no apology for the fact that this is Biblically based, and the conclusions that have been reached by this work fit very well in Biblical contexts and adds some understanding to the events that took place in the Biblical narratives.
